The drive is not correctly recognized when the system is started up:
→ In the system configuration, make sure that the drive is connected at the correct
position.
The drive is not correctly recognized after starting up the OS (but was correctly recognized
on system startup):
→ Make sure that the SAS controller driver is correctly running.
Correctly backing up is not possible (but the backup software recognizes the drive).
Replace the data cartridge with a new one.
Make sure that the correct data cartridge is being used.
→ Make sure that the drive and cartridge combination is correct. For example, make
sure that an LTO1 cartridge is not being used in an LTO4 drive.
→ Make sure that a cartridge for which operation is guaranteed (such as an N or EF
model number cartridge) is being used.
→ Make sure that the used cartridge's life has not ended.
→ Make sure that no error has occurred for the cartridge being used.
If the drive was brought in from an environment where the temperature and humidity
differed, give the drive time to adjust to its new environment. Only use the drive after
it has adjusted.
When an attempt is made to perform a backup immediately after starting up the
system in an environment without air conditioning management, the drive might not
be sufficiently adjusted to the environment. Change the operations so that backups are
only made after sufficient adjustment to the environment. (As an example, this
problem can easily occur when starting up systems or starting backups at night.)
The settings for the backup software might be incorrect. Double-check the settings.
Correctly backing up is not possible (and the backup software does not recognize the drive).
Make sure that the backup software is correctly installed.
