6-2 Installing and Using Utilities

INSTALLING THE TAPE DEVICE DRIVER

Install the tape device driver only when you are using the Windows backup (system tool) of
Windows Server 2003.
To install the tape device driver in the server, use the attached CD-ROM.
Prepare the CD-ROM in advance.
Described of installation procedures for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) operating system are
described below. Installation procedures for other operating system are basically the same.
To read the driver (.inf file) from the CD-ROM, first specify the folder that contains an operating
system you are using. Or, read the ".inf" file by automatic searching feature.

For Windows Server 2003

1.
Click [Start], point to [Settings], and then click [System].
The [System Properties] dialog box appears.

Click the [Hardware] tab, and then click [Device Manager].
The [Device Manager] dialog box appears.

Confirm that [HP Ultrium 4 Sequential Device] is displayed in [Other devices].
Double-click [HP Ultrium 4 Sequential Device]. The [HP Ultrium 4 Sequential
Device Properties] dialog box appears.

Click the [Driver] tab, and then click [Update Driver].
The [Start Upgrade Device Driver Wizard] dialog box appears.

Select [Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)], insert
the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and click [Next].
The [Specify a location] dialog box appears.
6.
Select "q:\win\tape_drv\Win2003\x32\hplto.inf" from the list, and click [Next].
The [Completed Upgrade Device Driver Wizard] dialog box appears.
7.
Click [Finish].
8.
Confirm that [Hewlett Packard LTO Ultrium-3 device] is displayed under
[Tape Drive] in the [Device Manager] dialog box.
This completes installation of tape device driver.
