    Check the cord regularly for possible damage. If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

    ENGLISH The iron may give off some smoke when you use it for the first time.This will cease after a short while. Preparing for use Filling the water tank Never immerse the iron in water. Make sure the appliance is unplugged. Set the steam control to position 0 (= no steam).
  • Page 6 ENGLISH A long beep tells you that the iron has been connected to the mains.The temperature control display lights up and 'OFF' appears. Press temperature control button ¢ to select the required ironing temperature. A short beep indicates that the temperature setting has been changed. Check the garment label for the required ironing temperature: Synthetic fabrics (e.g.

    ENGLISH When you press temperature control button £ to decrease the ironing temperature, the newly selected temperature indication and symbol W start to blink. Wait until the iron has reached the selected temperature.You will hear a double beep and the temperature indication and symbol stop blinking.

    ENGLISH Features Spray function You can use the spray function to remove stubborn creases at any temperature. Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank. Press the spray button several times to moisten the article to be ironed. Shot of steam A powerful 'shot' of steam helps remove stubborn creases.
  • Page 9 ENGLISH Automatic anti-calc system The built-in anti-calc system reduces the build-up of scale and guarantees a longer life for the iron. Alert light and electronic safety shut-off function The electronic safety shut-off function automatically switches off the iron if it has not been moved for a while. The iron is equipped with a blue alert light.

    ENGLISH Calc-clean function You can use the calc-clean function to remove scale and impurities. Use the calc-clean function once every two weeks. If the water in your area is very hard (i.e. when flakes come out from the soleplate during ironing), the calc-clean function should be used more frequently.
