Starting the Engine

Standard Model
Pull the recoil handle slowly until you feel resistance, then pull
it sharply. Allow the rope to return to the engine slowly.
Note: If the machine does not start after several attempts,
contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
Electric-start Model
You can start the engine on an electric-start model by using
either the ignition key or the recoil-start handle.
Ignition Key:
Turn and hold the ignition key to the Start position
(Figure 17); when the engine starts, release the key.
Important: Do not attempt to start the engine with
the blade-control bar engaged; otherwise, you may
blow the fuse.
Note: Do not hold the ignition key in the Start position
for longer than 5 seconds to prevent burning out the
starter motor.
