Customising your
Galaxy device
When you i rst set up your
Galaxy device, many settings
will have been taken care of.
There's a lot you can do to
personalise these, though, from
changing the home and lock-
screen wallpapers to altering
the fonts or the sounds used
for ringtones, alerts and more.
Dif erent Galaxy devices have
dif erent features – here, we're
looking at the Galaxy S5 (Fig 1).
Control the
system sounds
There are lots of dif erent ways
in which your Galaxy device
uses sound. The one that
is likely to spring to mind is
ringtones, but there are lots more. How about all the dif erent kinds
of notii cations for dif erent incoming communications? There are
lots and lots of built-in sounds that you can use as ringtones and
notii cations, and experimenting with them can be an entertaining
experience.
In fact, some of the sounds aren't really like noises at all. These
relate to vibrations and something called 'haptic feedback' , which
refers to those small tactile jolts you get when you tap and hold
app icons on the screen. There is a sound associated with these, but
