The issue of the Bunn VPR APS airpot only filling halfway and leaking water could be caused by liming buildup or an issue with the thermostat. Follow these steps to troubleshoot and fix the problem:
1. Check for Liming Buildup – In hard water areas, mineral deposits can block water flow. Clean the machine by inserting a cleaning tool and moving it back and forth five to six times. This should be done daily in hard water areas.
2. Verify Water Temperature – If the water is not hot enough, it may be due to a faulty limit thermostat. Refer to the service manual for testing procedures and replace the thermostat if needed.
3. Inspect for Leaks – Ensure all components are properly installed and sealed. Check hoses and fittings for cracks or loose connections.
If the problem persists after these steps, contact Bunn-O-Matic Technical Service for further assistance.

The manual does not mention water evaporation requiring an initial setup again. However, it does state that the brewer is heated at all times, which could lead to gradual water loss. Regular maintenance and refilling may be necessary, but no explicit re-setup is indicated.
