brakes by hand
7.
Remove the protective sleeve from the shaft and keep the sleeve for
further use.
Check, whether the holding brake attains the holding torque specified on the
used
type plate.
If the holding torque specified for the holding brake is not attained, the
holding brake has to be resurfaced before assembly.
Observe the following aspects:
1.
Avoid clamping or jamming the motor-side centering collar.
2.
Avoid damage to the insertion fitting on the system side.
3.
Check the stability and precision of the connection before you proceed.
After proper mechanical assembly, proceed with the electrical connections.
WARNING
Any commissioning and maintenance work may only be carried out in non-
explosive environments. The environment must be free from explosive gas or
dust.
Before commissioning and maintance work is carried out, the rooms have to
be ventilated, if necessary.
In order to ensure proper functioning of the holding brake, the holding brake
has to be checked before commissioning. The check and, if necessary, the
resurfacing procedure can be carried out "mechanically by hand" or
"automatically using the software function".
Measure the holding torque (M4) of the holding brake. If necessary, resurface
the holding brake.
Measuring the holding torque (M4) of the holding brake
1.
De-energize the motor and make sure it cannot be switched back on.
2.
Measure the transferable holding torque (M4) of the holding brake with a
torque wrench. For the holding torque (M4) refer to the technical data.
If the specified holding torque (M4) is attained, the motor is ready for
assembly.
If the specified holding torque (M4) is not attained, the holding torque
can be restored by the subsequent resurfacing procedure.
Resurfacing the holding brake
1.
With the holding brake applied, turn the output shaft by hand, e.g. using
a torque wrench, by about 5 revolutions.
2.
Measure the holding torque (M4).
If the specified holding torque (M4) is attained, the motor is ready for
assembly.
If the specified holding torque (M4) is not attained after multiple
resurfacing procedures, the holding brake is not operational. Please
contact the Rexroth Service.
