The recording/playback speed can be selected from 5 steps. This means that sound data
with ultrasonic bands up to 160 kHz which have been recorded at the normal speed can
be heard by playing back at the 1/16 speed to lower the frequency to audible frequencies
up to 10 kHz. Moreover, large amounts of data recorded at the 1/16 speed for up to 32 hours
can also be played back and transferred to the host computer within 2 hours at the normal
speed.
SIR-1000W has rotary heads, so data is recorded on the tape sequentially in slanting tracks
as shown below.
The real-time verify-and-rewrite function verifies (plays back and evaluates) each track
as it is recorded. If the data is not played back correctly, it is written again on the next track.
Accordingly, reduces data drop-out during recording to virtually zero, thus dramatically
improving the reliability of recording.

Quartz-accurate synchronization is possible using two SIR-1000Ws. This makes it possible
to double the number of channels without sacrificing bandwidth or data transfer rate.
The SIR-1000W has a built-in large capacity data buffer memory that allows data to be
recorded before and after a trigger. This is handy for recording suddnly occuring
phenomena or data leading up to an event.
