About This User Manual

1.1

Purpose and Scope

This manual is intended to provide the users an overview of practical aspects related to Wire-
lessHART technology. It provides detailed description of factors to consider when designing
WirelessHART networks, along with features offered by the AWIN GW100 gateway to assist in
evaluating network design. Moreover, the gateway provides information on the functionali-
ties offered by the gateway through its web interface which can be used to configure a Wire-
lessHART network. Towards the end, some tips are provided to assist in network and device
troubleshooting.
Note. For detailed description of the new functionalities, the fixed problems, and the known
problems in a firmware release of AWIN GW100, refer to Release Notes (3BNP102932).

Document Conventions

Microsoft Windows conventions are normally used for the standard presentation of material
when entering text, key sequences, prompts, messages, menu items, screen elements, and so
on.

Terminology

Transmission Control Protocol

A fixed Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to a computer or device

transmits its own data as well as serves as a relay for other nodes
