Safety Information
Do not operate devices or handle cables on a stormy day.
To avoid personal injuries, take off your electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap before inserting a power cable.
To avoid personal injuries, arrange enough persons to carry the devices according to the suggestion on the package.
Before handling devices, wear an ESD suite, ESD gloves, or an ESD wrist strap and take off conductive objects such
as ornaments and watches.
To avoid device damage, ensure that the devices are grounded before powering them on.
Do not insert or remove disks or cables during power-on of the CSE. When data is being read or written on hard
disks, do not power off the device by cutting off power or holding down the power button for seconds. Otherwise, the
hard disks may have bad tracks and data may be damaged. To power off the device, stop reading and writing data on
the hard disks first and then send a shutdown command through the operating system (OS).
Installation Process
The power distribution system (DC or AC power distribution box), auxiliary tools (guide rails and floating nuts) are
pre-installed and cables (including power cables and network cables) are laid out in the system cabinet of the CSE

For an ESD wrist strap with a crocodile clip, snap the clip onto the cabinet (scenario 2).
  • Page 4 Installing Hardware Devices of the CSE Determining Positions of Devices in the Cabinet The CSE uses a cloud storage system (CSS) as the back-end storage. This section uses the CSS as an example to explain how to install a CSE system. This section uses the configuration of three C-Nodes in the CSE as an example.

Removing Filler Panels Remove only filler panels that cover the planned installation positions. Installing Back-End Storage Devices Install the back-end storage device by referring to the accompanying documents. Installing a KVM Fix the mounting ears on the square Slide the KVM along the guide rails. Install the KVM balancing pole to the hole bars of the cabinet by using M6 rear of the cabinet.
  • Page 6 Installing an SD-Node To keep the gravity balance of the cabinet, you are advised to install devices of the CSE from bottom to top. Slide the SD-Node into the cabinet along the guide rails. Fix the device in the cabinet using two M6 screws.
  • Page 7: Connecting Cables

Installing a Remote Modem Because the SD-Node provides only one serial port, you cannot connect an SMS modem and a remote modem at the same time. The remote modem is equipped with a 220 V to 12 V transformer, which connects to an external power supply. The remote modem is a small and light purchased component.
  • Page 8 Connecting Network Cables of the CSE Network cables are delivered with labels that describe the connections. Connect the network cables by referring to the labels. Before connecting the network cables, make sure that the devices have been grounded securely. This figure shows the network cable connections among devices of the CSE. Power cable connections and ground cable connections are not illustrated.
  • Page 9 Distribution of Switch Ports On a switch, network ports are numbered from bottom to top and then from left to right. Network cables are clearly labeled before delivery. The following tables describe distribution of network ports on switches to help you quickly complete network cable connections. Distribution of network ports on switch 1 Device Port Switch port Number...
  • Page 10 Connecting an SD-Node Connect cables in the sequence of the ground cables, network cables, then power cables. This section uses SD-Node-2 as an example to describe cable connections of an SD-Node. Connect cables of SD- Node-1 in the same way. The SMS modem connects only to SD-Node-2.
  • Page 11 Connecting the LAN Switch Rear panels of the two switches in a cabinet are connected to each other through two crossed stack cables. If the CSE has an expansion cabinet, switches in the system cabinet are connected to those in the expansion cabinet through four network cables.
