Motor Upgrade Instructions for VISTA Awnings
Tools Needed: 7/16" Wrench, 13 mm or 1/2" Wrench, 10 mm Wrench, Hammer, Vise Grip Locking
Pliers, Flat Tip Screwdriver, and a small tool such as a Paper Clip.
Parts Supplied: Motor and two 1/4-20 Hex Bolts, two Lock Washers, two Flat Washers, a Remote
Transmitter with Wall Holder, a Motor Override Crank with a 4 mm x 10 mm Cap Screw and
Washer, and one 3 mm Allen Wrench.
WARNING: FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY!!
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE.
PLEASE NOTE THAT LEFT AND RIGHT REFERENCES ARE AS YOU ARE FACING THE HOUSE.
1. Open the Awning to the fully extended position.
Note: If a SunSetter
Aluminum Hood is
installed, remove the
Hood End Plate from the
right side (Gear side).
See Figure 1.
2. Mark the Roller Bar
with the position of the
Fabric, on the left side.
This is the opposite end
of the Gear Assembly.
See Figure 2.
3. Using the Manual
Crank Wand, continue to
unroll the Fabric until the
Fabric Slot in the Roller
Bar is exposed. See
Figure 3.
4. Remove the Crank
Wand.
5. While your helper
supports the end of the
Roller Bar opposite the Gear Assembly (left side), use
a 13 mm or 1/2" wrench to loosen the Hex Bolt on the
Roller Bracket that is connected to the Gear Assembly.

6. While supporting both ends of the Roller Bar,
remove the Gear Assembly with Roller Bracket from
the Roller Bar and Square Bar. See Figure 5.
Note: You may have to gently tap on the Roller
Bracket to remove it from the Square Bar.

7. On the Roller Bar end that is opposite the Gear
Assembly, move the Roller Cap out of the hole in the
Roller Bracket. See Figure 6.
