1 About This Guide Thank you for purchasing a Huawei AR series router. This guide describes how to install AR550 series routers. It also explains how to log in to your router for the first time. The installation, connection, and login methods of AR550 series industrial switching routers are similar. This document uses the AR550-8FE-D-H routers as an example. -

CAUTION During installation and maintenance, take ESD protection measures, for example, wear ESD gloves or an ESD wrist strap. During router transport and installation, prevent the router from colliding with objects like doors, walls, or shelves. Do not place other objects on the router. 4 Site Environment Do not place this product in an environment with flammable or explosive gases, or smoke. - Page 4 Installation Procedure Step 1 Install two floating nuts on each front mounting rail of the cabinet. Leave four mounting holes between the two floating nuts on the same mounting rail. NOTE The length of six adjacent mounting holes may not be 2 U. Observe the scale ticks on the mounting rails when installing floating nuts.

NOTE You can use a flat-head screwdriver to install floating nuts. Step 2 Mount the router on the vertical rack-mounting bracket. a. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the seven M4 screws at the back of the router. b. - Page 7 NOTE The default user name is admin and the default password is Admin@huawei. If you forget the login password, restore the password according to the Troubleshooting. After successful login, you can configure the router on the command line interface. For more information, see the CLI-based Configuration.
- Page 8 Start the browser, enter https://192.168.1.1 in the address box, and press Enter to display the login page. Step 13 Enter the user name admin and password Admin@huawei (case sensitive). You can use the web-based management system to configure the router. For details, see Web-based Configuration.
