3 Installing a New HOP E Board into an Existing
Hicom CS
This chapter applies to HOP E systems only.
If you bought your HOP E Software Release 2.0 system together with your Hi-
com CS, the HOP E board is already installed. Read only Section 3.2 on
page 3-2 and then proceed to Chapter 4, "Building the PC Interface for Your Of-
fice PhoneMail System".
If you bought your HOP E Software Release 2.0 system after you bought your
Hicom CS, read this chapter and install the HOP E board as described.
If you are updating a previous HOP E software release to Software Release 2.0,
follow the instructions in Hicom Office PhoneMail Entry Software Release 2.0,
UpIssue Card Installation Instructions .
3.1

Unpacking Your HOP E Shipment

This section replaces Section "Unpacking Your HOP E Shipment" in the Hicom Of-
fice PhoneMail Entry, Installation and System Administration Guide .
Ensure that your HOP E shipment includes the following items:
A HOP E board.
Caution

The Office PhoneMail Entry board is in a sealed anti-static bag. Open this bag only
when you are ready to install Office PhoneMail into your Hicom CS.
A special Siemens adapter cable with a ferrite (adaptor cable for short). One connector is
a 4-pin receptacle, the other a DB-9 plug. Table 3-1 shows the Siemens part number and
model number of the adaptor cable.

A 6 ft. RJ11 cable with a ferrite.
A short modular cable. This cable is needed for factory installations only, it is not used for
a HOP E installation at a customer's site. Discard this cable.
