Installing and Configuring the Nimble Storage Array
Before you power on and initialize the array, you must properly cable the Nimble Storage controllers and any
disk shelves that you are using. You must also connect the networking for both controllers to the management
network. For more information about how to do this, refer to the manuals for the Nimble Storage array that

Note The uninitialized Nimble Storage array must meet three conditions in order for the setup process to
recognize it before configuring it:
• It must be connected to the same subnet or VLAN as the installation system.
• It must be powered on.
• It must be in a non-initialized state.

Initializing and Configuring the Nimble Storage Array

Preparation for using the Nimble Storage array involves these tasks:
• Initialize the array by using the Nimble Windows Toolkit (NWT).
• Perform the basic configuration and set up vCenter integration.

Initialize the Array with NWT

Procedure
1 Use Remote Desktop to move to the management VM (<<mgmt_vm_fqdn>>).
2 From the Start Menu, select Run the Nimble Setup Manager.
3 On the Welcome page, find the array that is associated with this solution and click its radio button. Click
Next.
4 If you do not see your array, ensure it is connected properly to the 1 GbE switches, in VLAN
<<mgmt_net_vlan>> as an access port, and that the firewall is disabled on the management VM.
5 Click OK on the Information dialog box to allow it to open a Web browser session to the array so that the
array can be configured.
6 Review and accept the EULA. Click Proceed.
7 Set up the Nimble Storage array:
a Review the array's serial number to confirm that you are configuring the correct array.
b Select Set up this array but do not join an existing group and click Next.
c Enter the following information:
• Array Name: <<nimble_system_name>>.
• Group Name: <<nimble_group_name>>.
• Management IP: <<nimble_mgmt_ip>>.
• Netmask: <<mgmt_net_netmask>>.
• Default Gateway: <<mgmt_net_gw>>.
• Domain Name: <<mgmt_net_domain_name>>.
• Create and Confirm Password: <<nimble_admin_pwd>>.
8 Click Finish. It will take a few minutes for the array to initialize.
9 When initialization is complete, click Continue.
