Configuring the Server and Installing the Hypervisor for the Management
Servers
The management servers are built manually to host the management infrastructure of the solution. The
management server environment is a requirement for deploying and configuring the remaining components
of the solution.
You must use the HPE custom image for VMware ESXi 6.5 for this task. This image is also required later for
setting up HPE ICsp and building the ProLiant server blades. Before beginning these procedures, ensure
that all firmware components are at the levels specified in
12.
Perform the following procedures on the first management server and then repeat for the second management
server in the solution, or, alternatively, perform the procedures in parallel on both management servers
simultaneously:
Configure the Smart Array P440ar RAID level.
Install VMware vSphere 6.5 on the DL360 Gen9 server.

Launch iLO Remote Console and Power On the Server

Before you can begin configuring the array, you must launch the Integrated Remote Console and power on
the server.
Procedure
1 Open a connection and log in to the first management server's iLO.
2 Launch the Integrated Remote Console by selecting either .NET or Java from the Information Overview
window.
3 If prompted, click Run to allow the remote console to open.
4 With the server in the powered-off state, power on the server by selecting Power Switch > Momentary
Press.

Enter Intelligent Provisioning and Configure the Smart Array

Procedure
1 Press F10 when appropriate to enter Intelligent Provisioning.
2 When the splash screen appears, select Smart Storage Administrator.
3 Click Smart Array P440ar from the Array Controller(s) list under Available Device(s) in the left pane:
a Click Configure under the Actions list in the right pane.
b Click Create Array under the Actions list in the right pane.
c Select the drives you want to use for the new array and then click Create Array in the lower right.
4 Select RAID 1+0 as the RAID level and leave the defaults for the remaining options.
5 Click Create Logical Drive in the lower right.
6 If spare drive configuration is needed, click Manage Spare Drives:
a Select the spare drive type that you want to use.
HPE recommends selecting Auto Replace Drives so that drives are automatically added to the RAID
array if a drive fails.
b Select drives to use as spares.
c Click Save.
7 Confirm the array details and click Finish.
