6. Place a record on the turntable platter - use the 45rpm spindle adaptor (a) if necessary.
7. Lift the tone arm from the arm rest and move it slowly to the edge of the record - the
turntable will start rotating - then gently place the tone arm on the desired position on the
record.
8. Adjust the volume level by turning the VOLUME control on the front panel (21) - (showing
levels 0–30 on the display).
9. Adjust the speed with the Pitch Control knob if required (d). *See section below on how to do this.
10. When the record has stopped playing, the turntable will automatically stop rotating - unless the Auto-Stop
switch has been switched to OFF – refer to the TURNTABLE AUTO-STOP FUNCTION section in the main
Manual.
11. Lift the tone arm off the record and return it to the arm rest.
12. To manually stop the Turntable rotating before the end of the record, carefully lift the tone arm off the record
and return it to the arm rest by hand.
*TURNTABLE PLATTER SPEED ALIGNMENT - USING THE PITCH CONTROL
This model has been upgraded with a 'Pro-Deck' style Turntable and Pitch Control. To check if the speed of a
record that is playing is correct, and if it needs to be adjusted, do the following:
o During playback of for instance a 45rpm record, look at the appropriate strip of Strobe calibration dots on the
edge of the turntable platter, illuminated by the STROBE LENS (44):
1
o The upper one is for 33
/
rpm -- the middle one for 45rpm -- the bottom one for 78rpm records.
3
o If the strobe dots appear to be flowing to the right, it means the platter is revolving slower than the rated speed.
Slowly turn the PITCH CONTROL KNOB (45) in the " + " direction.
o If the strobe dots appear to be flowing to the left, it means the platter is revolving faster than the rated speed.
Slowly turn the Pitch Control in the " – " direction.
o Make small adjustments with the Pitch Control knob until the strobe dots appear to be stationary without
moving left or right.
STYLUS REPLACEMENT
When the stylus eventually needs replacing, a replacement stylus (Code 'SSTY8' suitable for 33
records) is available for purchase directly from the manufacturer. Please contact your Supplier or Steepletone

REMOVING AND REFITTING THE NEEDLE HOLDER (FLIP-OVER STYLUS)
1. To remove the Flip-over Stylus Holder, hold the Tone Arm head steady with one
hand.
2. Turn the 'handle' of the Stylus Holder down slightly (showing either the 'LP' or '78' side.
3. To remove it, gently pull the complete white Stylus Holder out of the Tone Arm Cartridge's
brass colour slot and forwards.
4. To re-fit the Flip-over Stylus Holder, reverse the above actions, making sure the short
white plastic end is inserted above the small brass plate in the bottom of the Tone Arm
Cartridge.
5. Just in case it is necessary to remove the whole Stylus/pick-up assembly, use small pliers to carefully
disconnect the wires, then change to another stylus cartridge and connect the wires to the new stylus again
with the pliers. (Do not pull the pick-up wires directly as this may cause damage to the wires). Refit as in
the Diagrams above
/
.
NOTES: Always handle the stylus with care as the Sapphire needle tip is easily damaged.
When transporting the turntable it is advisable to refit the protective needle cover until the unit is going to be used
again. When removing or re-fitting the stylus, always be careful not to put too much pressure on the stylus
holder and the tone arm cartridge, to avoid causing any possible damage to them.
TURNTABLE AUTO-STOP FUNCTION
Some longer vinyl records will stop playing before the last track has finished, because the auto-stop setting
required is just outside the unit's pre-set area. If that is the case, move the AUTO STOP Switch (37) to the
"OFF" position, this will allow the tone arm to carry on to the end of the record.

TRACK SEPARATION DURING MP3 ENCODING
During MP3 encoding too, the tracks of the music being recorded can be separated to create gaps between them,
which will allow you to skip forward or backward during playback of the encoded/recorded songs.
Each time the Encoding

a new track and continue the encoding. The
icons are flashing again, this means the unit is creating a new track successfully and continues encoding.
