Changing Engine Oil & Filter
Refer to Safety Precautions on page 91.
Your Honda SXS's oil filter has very specific performance
requirements. Use a new Honda Genuine oil filter specified for your
model or a filter of equal quality.
NOTICE
Using the wrong oil filter may result in leaks, premature wear, or
engine damage.
This procedure requires mechanical skill and professional tools such
as a torque wrench, and access from underneath the vehicle, as well
as the means for disposing of the drained fluid (page 188). If you do
not have the skills or the tools, see your dealer.
Drain the Engine Oil:
1. Make sure the Honda SXS is parked on level ground. Set the
parking brake, and jack up and support your Honda SXS
(page 109).
2. Remove the front seat (page 108) and left side rubber dust cover.
3. Remove the oil fill cap.
