3.
Installing the control box shift cables to
the junction unit.
1) Install the dual station brass barrel
ends on the shift cables from the 704
control boxes. When doing this, pull
slightly on the cable to eliminate any
backlash and then push slightly in order
to find the center point. Use this center
point to adjust the brass cable end to
the 169mm length shown. After adjust-
ment, secure the cable end piece with
the rod nut.
2) Move the remote control lever between
forward and reverse positions at the
first station several times and place the
shift cam in the junction unit in neutral.
Check if the grooves on the cam and
cable end are offset each other.
Repeat the check at the second station.
If grooves are offset, use the following
steps to eliminate the offset.
3) Remove cable clamp and pull out the
shift cable.
4) Loosen the rod nut on the cable and
move the cable end so that the offset is
eliminated.
5) Install the shift cables into the junction
box in the same manner as the installa-
tion of the throttle cable.
CAUTION:
Install the clamp so that the side indicated
by the arrow mark directs the center of the
junction box. If the clamp groove does not
fit the C hub groove, make an adjustment by
changing the position of the cable end
piece or the clamp. Remember that the
cable end piece should be screwed in at
least 8mm.
CAUTION:
After installation, confirm that the clamp
cover is firmly fitted in place.
Insure the rod nuts are properly tightened
against brass barrel cable ends to prevent
them from working loose and turning.
6) Replace the cover and the clamp cov-
ers.
