    In some cases, multiple SMUs are advisable. Storage A Hitachi NAS Platform or Hitachi Unified Storage File Module system can subsystems control several storage enclosures. The maximum number of storage enclosures in a rack depends on the model of storage enclosures being installed.     Attaching a rack stabilizer plate A rack stabilizer plate and mounting hardware are supplied with some system configurations. Hitachi Data Systems recommends that you always use the stabilizer plate when provided. Use of a stabilizer plate is required for those installations with dense trays.

A Hitachi Unified Storage File Module system can contain single Hitachi NAS Platform server or several servers that operate as a cluster. Clusters of more than two servers include two 10 Gbps Ethernet switches. Hitachi Data Systems only requires two switches for redundancy.

    Replacing an FPGA board as a FRU Typically, when an FPGA board fails, the whole Hitachi NAS Platform server is replaced. However, in some cases with the HNAS 3080 and 3090 platform models, an FPGA board may be replaced as a field replaceable unit (FRU).
