The MVCI is not designed to run on its internal batteries. The batteries act as a backup power source in case the
MVCI is accidentally disconnected or loses power. If it does, there are three possible warning messages:
The MVCI has a built-in power management function. When the MVCI is connected to the vehicle's DLC, the
MVCI uses the vehicle's battery to power itself. It also shows the vehicle battery's state-of-charge, although, this
information is for reference only. To check the vehicle's battery, use a Honda-approved battery diagnostic tool like
the ED-18 or the GR8.

Battery Warning Messages

A: When the MVCI is disconnected from either power source (the DLC or
the external power supply), and it is not able to complete an important function, an
error message is displayed on the screen. The MVCI will try to complete the
function using its internal battery, but will turn off after 30 seconds.
If you want to keep power on, reconnect the DLC or the external power supply.
B: When the MVCI is disconnected from either power source (the DLC or the
external power supply), and the MVCI is not able to complete an important
function, an error message is displayed on the screen. The MVCI will try to
complete the function using its internal battery, but will turn off after 3 minutes. If
you want to keep the power on, reconnect the DLC or the external power supply.
C: When the MVCI detects a low vehicle battery charge, an error message is
displayed on the screen. Charge the vehicle battery before diagnosing the problem.
