QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE

System Setup

1. Remove rear panel plates covering card slots. Plug in appropriate format digital interlace cards (adat, Tascam, AES/EBU etc.).
Use slot 1 for an 8 track system, slots 1 and 2 for 16 track Slots 3 and 4 are for accommodating up to 16 additional digital inputs for
32 total returns.
2. Connect appropriate digital audio cables between 02R and recorders (adat optical, Tascam TDIF D-sub etc.).
3. Connect time code output (SMPTE or MTC) from recorder to 02R timecode input connector.
4. Connect condenser microphones or line sources to inputs l-8.
5. Activate phantom power on required inputs. Connect dynamic microphones or line sources to inputs 9-16. Connect stereo line sources to
Inputs 17-24.
6. Connect C-R (control room) monitor outputs to a power amplifier and monitor speakers.
7. Connect AUX sends 5 and 6 to the studio headphone system.
8. Set T/B, (talkback) and Studio Level controls to desired settings.
9. Power up 02R, peripheral gear, recorder(s) and monitor system.
02R Recording Configuration
1. Select DIGITAL I/O key and scroll to the Word Clock Select screen. Cursor to highlight TAPE 1/2 and select ENTER key, Configure
digital recorder for internal Word Clock Master and Digital Outputs.
2. Select SETUP key and scroll to Preferences screen. Choose your requirements. We recommend choosing the AUTO displays.
3. Select SETUP key and scroll to SOLO screen. Cursor to STATUS and select RECORDING using ENTER key. Cursor to MODE and
select MIX SOLO using ENTER key
4. Select ST (stereo) key in Control Room key group.
5. Select ROUTING key and assign MIC/Line inputs to busses l-8 or direct outputs 1-16. De-select Stereo bus assignment from all
Mic/Line Inputs. Arm selected tracks on digital recorder(s).
6. Set C-R Level control to 10 o'clock or desired listening level. Set Phones Level control to 2 o'clock or desired listening level.
7. Set STEREO fader to NOMINAL (0) mark. Set input faders to NOMINAL (0) marks. Set rotary digital recorder returns to 11 o'clock.
8. Select METER key, scroll to MIC Inputs screen. Cursor to POST EQ and select ENTER Adjust input gain trims for peak levels at -6.
9. Check below Gain control for occasional peak LED flicker.
10. Select AUX 5 key from left AUX key Group. Select PAIR, scroll to 5,6 and select. ENTER Select AUX 5 keys in Control Room and
Studio key groups to monitor the musicians headphone mix. Bring up appropriate faders and set pan controls to build a mix.
11. Proceed with recording session using the "Selected Channel" section for Routing, Panning, Aux sends and Equalization per
selected input.
02R Mixdown Configuration
1. Power up 02R, recall scene memory "ø", select FLIP key and bring all tape return faders down to infinity position.
2. Select METER key and scroll to Tape screen. Cursor to POST EQ and select ENTER.
3. Select ST (stereo) in Control Room key group. Adjust C-R level to desired setting. Select ST (stereo) in Routing key group.
4. Enable PLAY on recorder(s) and bring up channel faders to assemble a rough mix. Use the "Selected Channel" section for each input.
5. Create a desired mix for the Intro of the production, scroll to SCENE MEMORY 1 and select STORE. Memory 1 will become the foun-
dation of the start of your mix when using the AUTOMIX automation system.
