building management to perform this check before calling for service.
Possible Causes
1 . Stove power cord not plugged into wall
o u t l e t .
2 . House fuse has blown or main panel circuit
breaker has tripped.
3 . Stove power cord is damaged.
1 . No power to the stove.
2 . Stove timer not set properly.
3 . Selector Control dial (on some models) not
set properly.
1 . Element control dial is set incorrectly.
2 . Element control dial does not turn.
3 . Removable coil elements inserted
incorrectly into element receptacle.
4 . Use of light weight or warped pans.
1 . Bulb is loose or burnt out.
2 . The switch operating the light is broken.
3 . Stove fuse located in the backguard has
b l o w n .
1 . Stove is not level.
2 . Stove control dials are set incorrectly.
3 . Cookware / Bakeware is unsuitable; recipe
is new or unreliable.
4 . Cooking / Baking with improper pots and
p a n s .
1 . Oven temperature set too high.
2 . Baking food with a high liquid content in an
uncovered pan.
Solution
1 . Make sure stove power cord is firmly
plugged into wall outlet.
2 . Replace house fuse or reset circuit breaker
switch at the main power distribution panel.*
3 . Replace stove power cord (Call for Service).

2 . Review the "Stove & Oven Ti m e r
I n s t r u c t i o n s " .
3 . Check that the Selector dial (on some
models) is correctly set to desired function
(BAKE, BROIL, etc.) and that the dial is not
between positions.
1 . Read the Stovetop Operating Instructions on
how to operate your cooktop element control
d i a l s .
2 . Push control dial in before turning to desired
s e t t i n g .
3 . Remove and carefully re-insert element (on
some models).
4 . Use only flat bottomed, evenly balanced,
medium or heavy weight cookware.
1 . Tighten or replace the bulb. (See Oven
Light/Fluorescent light bulb replacement in
the Care and Cleaning section.)
2 . Call for service.
3 . Replace the stove backguard fuse. (See Fuse
Replacement in the Care and Cleaning
s e c t i o n . * )
1 . Level your stove as outlined in the "Leveling
Your Stove" section. Kitchen cabinet
misalignment may make your level stove
appear crooked.
2 . Read the instructions on how to set your
s t o v e 's timer, selector dials and cooktop
element dials.
3 . Adjust cooking time since different types of
cookware / bakeware require more or less
cooking time / temperature than stated in the
r e c i p e .
4 . Use the pan size that is recommended in the
recipe. Use the correct oven rack position.
1 . Check that the recipe's temperature setting is
correct; Read the instructions on how to set
your oven's timer, selector and temperature
d i a l s .
2 . Eliminate unnecessary water from the recipe
or cover the dish being baked.
