12.1 Note on Using Snap Shot

SnapShot manages the difference data between the logical disk as the copy source and the virtual copy,
as a map on the cache memory. Thus, if the disk array unit is turned OFF and the time limit for holding
data with batteries is exceeded while the battery backup state is placed, processing for creating the
management information of the difference data is performed upon the next start. As a result, the
system startup is delayed depending on the difference data held by Snap Shot. (Delay time: About 10
minutes per difference data of 1TB)
To avoid the huge delay of next system startup with fully discharged battery, please run shutdown
process by pushing shutdown button before the power of disk array unit is turned OFF.
As the management information of the difference data will be stored into hard disk by execution of
shutdown process, the delay of next system startup with fully discharged battery will be reduced
drastically.
So it is recommended to run shutdown process when you turn off the power of this disk array unit.
(The delay time will be approx. ten seconds per 1TB of difference.)
