RECEPTION
Occasionally
broadcast
stereo
transmissions
may
contain
excessive
background
noise
(hiss)
particularly
in "fringe"
areas located
far from
the broadcast
station.
Press the STereo/SAP/MONO
button to select MONO
and reduce the background
noise level. The on-screen
display
appears for 5 seconds.
The selected
setting
(MONO)
flashes.
With
the STereo/SAP/MONO
switch
in the MONO
position
the audio
program
is reproduced
in mono
even when
the broadcast
signal
is stereo.
NOTE:
MONO
Should
be used only
when
back-
ground
noise
is objectionable.
For normal
use, the STereo/SAP/MONO
switch
should
be set to the STereo
position.

EXPANSION
is a special
circuit
designed
to provide
a simulated
stereo
effect
when
receiving
monaural
broadcasts
or
playback
from
monaural
external
units
(VCR,
video
disc
player,
etc.)
connected
to the
rear
panel
AUDIO/VIDEO
inputs.
1.
Press the EXPANSION
button
to select
audio
expansion.
The on-screen
dispaly (EXPANSION)
appears for
5 seconds.

Press again to switch the EXPANSION
function
off.
