Symptom: The implementation of the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) version 2 in Cisco MDS 9000
switches may not be interoperable with other IKE version 2 implementations. Our IKE version 2
implementation is used whenever an encrypted FCIP tunnel is established between two MDS
switches.
Workaround: If a Cisco MDS 9000 switch tries to establish an IKE version 2 tunnel with a
non-MDS switch running IKE version 2, or vice versa, the gateway or the Cisco MDS 9000 switch
should be configured to use IKE version 1 for that tunnel.

Symptom: On a Cisco MDS 9513 Switch, when there are more than 512 ports on a single chassis,
some ports with indexes between 0x200 and 0x20f may not come up. In addition, some ports with
indexes between 0x0 and 0xf may show unexpected behavior when the ports with indexes between
0x200 and 0x20f are brought up. To display the port indexes, issue the show system internal fcfwd
idxmap port-to-interface command. The port indexes appear in the column with the heading "glob
idx."
Workaround: Do not bring up more than 512 ports. To ensure that the port indexes between 0x0
and 0xf behave correctly, follow these steps:
Issue the shut command for ports with indexes 0x200 to 0x20f.
1.
Issue the shut command for the ports with indexes 0x0 to 0xf, followed by the no shut
2.
command for the same port indexes.

Symptom: If you upgrade a system with a modem configuration to Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release
3.x, the upgrade fails and the system reboots.
Workaround: Prior to the upgrade, remove the modem configuration. When the upgrade is finished,
reconfigure the modem.
If the modem connection is through a COM1 port, follow these steps to remove the configuration
and then reconfigure it:
Issue the configuration terminal command to enter configuration mode:
1.
switch# config t
switch(config)#
Issue the line com1 command to enter the COM1 port configuration mode:
2.
switch(config)# line com1
switch(config-com1)#
3.
Issue the no modem in command to disable the current modem from executing its functions:
switch(config-com1)# no modem in
Issue the modem in command to reconfigure the modem when the upgrade is finished:
4.
switch(config-com1)# modem in
If the modem connection is through the console port, follow these steps to remove the configuration
and then reconfigure it:
Issue the configuration terminal command to enter configuration mode:
1.
switch# config t
switch(config)#
Issue the line console command to enter the console port configuration mode:
2.
switch(config)# line console
switch(config-console)#
