Safety Guide
PRECAUTIONS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE
USE. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THESE
INSTRUCTIONS.
The precautions listed below are to prevent risk of harm to the user
and others, as well as to prevent property damage, and to help the
user use this product properly and safely. Be sure to follow these
instructions.
After reading this manual, be sure to keep it in a safe place where it can
be referenced at any time.
• Be sure to request inspections or repairs from the dealer where
you purchased the unit or from qualified Yamaha service
personnel.
• Yamaha cannot be held responsible for injury to you or damage of
the products caused by improper use or modifications to the unit.
• This product is for ordinary homes. Do not use for applications
requiring high reliability, such as managing lives, health care or
high-value assets.
WARNING
This content indicates "risk of serious injury or death."
Handling
• Do not use this product while driving or cycling. Also, do not use this
product when you need to hear what is going on around you, such as
at a railroad crossing or construction site.
Reduced ability to hear surrounding sound increases the risk of an
accident.
CAUTION
This content indicates "risk of injury."
If you notice any abnormality
• If any of the following abnormalities occur, unplug the headphone
cable from the device and stop using it immediately.
- A strange odor or smoke is emitted by the product
- Foreign objects or water get into the product
- The product is unusually hot
- The product is cracked or damaged
Continuing to use the product in these situations may result in burns,
injury, electric shock or malfunctions. Contact Yamaha customer
service for assistance.
Do not disassemble
• Do not disassemble or modify this unit.
Failure to observe this may cause electric shock, injuries or
malfunctions.
Water warning
• Do not use this product in wet conditions, such as in a bathroom or
outdoors in the rain, or where the product may be exposed to tap
water or seawater.
If liquids such as tap water or seawater get into this product, this may
cause electric shock or malfunctions. If the product is wet, wipe it off
with a soft, dry cloth.
• Do not handle this product with wet hands.
Also, never insert or unplug the headphone cable with wet hands.
Doing so may result in malfunction.
Fire warning
• Do not place any burning items or open flames near this product.
This may cause a malfunction.
Handling
• Do not drop this product or expose it to strong impact.
This may cause a malfunction or damage the product, as the driver
unit on this product is a precision instrument.
Hearing loss
• Do not expose yourself to high volume sound for an extended period
of time.
Otherwise, hearing loss may be caused. Avoid listening for more than
40 hours per week at a volume level of 80 dB (A), or more than five
hours per week at a volume level of 89 dB (A). If you experience any
hearing abnormality, consult a physician.
• Make sure to turn the volume all the way down on the devices you
connect this product to beforehand.
Failure to do so may cause hearing loss, electric shock, or damage to
this product.
• Before connecting the unit to other devices, turn off the power for all
devices.
Failing to do so may result in hearing loss, electric shock, or device
damage.
Handling caution
• Do not do the following:
- Sitting or placing your weight on top of this product.
- Placing heavy objects on top of this product.
- Applying excessive force to the input jack.
- Pulling on the headphone cable while it is connected.
Failure to observe this may cause injury to the user, or damage to this
product.
• Do not operate this product if the sound is distorting.
Prolonged use in this condition could cause overheating and result in
fire.
• Keep small parts out of the reach of infants.
Your children may accidentally swallow them.
• In case the earpads irritate your skin, stop use immediately.
• Otherwise, inflammation or rash may be caused.
• Do not install this product in places where it may come into contact
with corrosive gases or salt air or places that have excessive smoke or
steam.
Doing so may result in malfunction.
