STANDARDS OF USE

For instructions regarding the engine and the battery (if
supplied), read the relevant manuals.
1. FINISH ASSEMBLY
NOTE – The machine can be supplied with some of the
components already fitted.
1.1
Bring the handle (1) back to its operating position
and secure it with the thumb knobs (2).
The handle (1) can be height-adjusted in three different
positions by loosening the thumb knobs (2) and inserting
the pins (3) in one of the three pairs of holes on the brack-
ets. Tighten the thumb knobs (2) securely after adjustment.
Fit the starter rope (4-if provided) in the guide (5) and tight-
en the nut (6). Mount the tray (7-if provided) by pushing the
attachments right down until you hear a click.
Unscrew the two knobs on the sides (8) to adjust the grip
and make it as comfortable as possible. Tighten the knobs
(8) after adjustment.
1.2
With the plastic part (11) upside-down, fasten the
frame (12) to the plastic part using the screws (13).
Insert the frame (12) into the sack (14) and attach the plas-
tic profile (15) with the help of a screwdriver, as shown in
the drawing.
Fit the edge of the cloth (16) right into the groove of the
plastic part (11), starting 5-7 mm from the ends.
1.3
On models with an electric starter, connect the bat-
tery cable to the lawnmower's general cable connection.
2. DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS
2.1
The throttle (where fitted) is controlled by the lever
(1) and positioned as shown on the relative plate. Some
models have a fixed speed, and therefore no need of a
throttle.
2.2
The blade brake is controlled by the lever (1), which
should be held against the handle when starting and using
the lawnmower.
The engine stops when the lever is released.
2.3
In power-driven models, the lawnmower is moved
forward by pushing the control lever (1) forwards.
To stop moving forward, bring the lever (1) back to neutral.
The lever (1) automatically goes back into neutral when you
release the blade brake lever.
2.4
The speed change (if present) is controlled by the
lever (1), whose positions are shown on the plate.
2.5
The cutting height is adjusted by releasing the lever
(1) and lifting or lowering the chassis to the required posi-
tion which can be seen through the special opening.
MAKE THIS ADJUSTMENT ONLY WHEN THE BLADE HAS
STOPPED MOVING.
3. GRASS CUTTING
3.1
Lift the stone-guard and attach the grass-catcher
(1) correctly as shown in the drawing.
3.2
To start the engine, follow the instructions in the
engine booklet and then pull the blade brake lever (1)
towards the handle and give a sharp pull on the starter
cable knob (2).
For models with an electric starter, turn the starter key (3).
3.3
The lawn will look better if it is always cut to the
same height and in alternate directions.
3.4
When you have finishing mowing, release the brake
lever (1) and disconnect the spark plug cap (2).
Remove the starter key (3) (where fitted).
WAIT FOR THE BLADE TO STOP before carrying out any
type of work on the machine.
4. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT – Regular, careful maintenance is essen-
tial for keeping the safety level and original perform-
ance of the machine unchanged in time.
Store the lawnmower in a dry place.
1) Wear strong working gloves during any cleaning, main-
tenance or adjustment operation on the machine.
2) Carefully clean the machines with water after each cut;
remove the grass debris and mud accumulated inside
the chassis to avoid their drying and thus making the
next start-up difficult.
3) Should it be necessary to access the lower part, only tilt
the machine from the side shown in the engine hand-
book; following the relative instructions.
4) Do not drip petrol onto the plastic parts of the motor or
the machine to prevent damaging them and remove all
traces of spilt petrol immediately. The warranty does not
cover damage to plastic parts caused by petrol.
4.1
All operations on the blade should be carried out at
a specialized centre.
Note for specialized centres: Reassemble the blade (2) as
shown in the drawing and tighten the central screw (1)
using a torque wrench set to the values specified for each
type of blade.
4.2
In power-driven models:
• adjust the tension of the belt with the nut (1) to get the
right measurement (6 mm).
• turn the adjusting nut (2) so that the wire (3) is slightly
loose and the lever (4) is idle.
4.3
To recharge a flat battery, connect to the battery
charger (1) following the instructions in the battery mainte-
nance handbook.
Do not connect the battery charger directly to the engine
terminal. It is not possible to start the engine using the bat-
tery charger as a power source, as it may get damaged.
If the machine is to remain inactive for a long period, dis-
connect the battery leads after making sure that the battery
is fully charged.
4.4
To clean inside the machine, use the hosepipe con-
nector (1) provided.
Always stand behind the machine's handle when cleaning.
Should you have any doubts or problems, do not hesitate
to contact the nearest Service Centre or your Sales outlet.
