  • Page 20: Adjustments And Operations

Adjustments and operations Cutting height adjustment Adjus the equipment on a flat place, being it properly hitched to the tractor . The blades cutting height is determined by the side skids (A), which feature an up and down adjustment with the help of the bolts (B). The cutting height must be set according to the soil type, avoiding that the NOTE blades touch the soil frequently.
  • Page 21 Adjustments and operations Slip clutch The slip clutches are factory preset, requiring no adjustment in order to start the cutter operation. When the equipment faces an overload, the slip clutch will start to work. It is necessary to raise the equipment immediately to relief from the overload. When facing a great amount of vegetation or if the cutting resistance is NOTE excessive, try to cut higher or decrease the working speed.

  • Page 23: Operations - Important Points

Adjustments and operations Operations - important points • Before starting working, it is advisable to do a complete check on the cutter. Grease the universal joints, check the oil level for all the gearboxes and tighten nuts and bolts. • The tractor lower stabilizer arms must be adjusted when the rotary cutter is totally lifted.
  • Page 24: Optional

Optional Stabilizer set The stabilizer set is optionally supplied to transfer part of the rotary cutter weight to the rear axle on the tractor to relief the hydraulic system. This set feature a chain adjustment, just being necessary to loosen up the pins (A) and determine their length.
  • Page 25: Maintenance

Maintenance Lubrication Check the tightening of the nuts and bolts and the conditions of pins and cotter pins daily. The maintenance of the distributors and gearboxes is done as follows: • When starting working and every day of the first week, check the oil level through the level marker and fill it up if necessary.
  • Page 26: Blades Replacement

Maintenance Blades replacement Inspect blades before each use to determine that they are properly installed and in good conditions. Replace any blade that is bent, excessively nicked, worn or has any other damage. Besides that, the blades must be reversed or replaced as soon as some cutting imperfection is being noticed.
  • Page 27: Replacement Of The Skid Guides

Maintenance When replacing the blades, observe that they are supplied in pairs, which ATTENTION should be kept together until assembled on the cutter spindle. Unbalanced blades may cause excessive vibration and can damage bearings, retainers and the transmission box. The discrepancy in weight of these blades is within the tolerance specified in the project.
  • Page 28: Slip Clutch

Maintenance Slip clutch The slip clutch (A) is assembled both in the gearbox (B )and in the cardan shaft (C), being also assembled in the metering box shaft. It is designed to slip, absorb operation loads and to protect the drive shaft. The slip clutch is factory fitted with a specified torque, in order to protect the tractor and equipment.
  • Page 29 Maintenance Slip clutch • Check the average length of the compression springs (A) before disassembling them. • Disassemble and sand the metallic parts that are attached to the plates (B). • Being the clutch disassembled, the plates must swing freely between the metallic parts.
  • Page 30: Gearbox And Double Distributor

Maintenance Gearbox and double distributor The gearbox and double distributors must be inspected every time the rotary cutter is about to operate. If the oil level is low, fill up the rotary cutter. The oil level verification must be done in a flat place and adjusted according to the indications of the marker.
