Checking the capacitor

WIRING HARNESS, BATTERY 15
Preparatory work
-
Press and hold the kill switch Q9 while the engine is idling until
the engine stops.
-
Remove the air filter box cover.
-
Remove the seat.
-
Disconnect the negative cable of the 12 V battery.
Main work
-
Measure the current between 12 V battery ground (-) and the
negative cable.

The value of the open-circuit current applies only to
vehicles in the original condition, i.e., without addi­

tional power consumers.

If the measured value is greater than the specified value:
-
Disconnect the voltage regulator from the wiring har­
ness and perform the measurement again.

Check the capacitor.
Finishing work
-
Connect the negative cable of the 12 V battery.
-
Mount the seat.
-
Install the air filter box cover.
Condition
The 12 V battery is disconnected.
-
Remove the capacitor.
-
Discharge the capacitor by bridging the two contacts.
-
Connect the capacitor to a 12 V test lamp to a connection
and connect to the 12 V battery as shown in the figure.

As the capacitor charge increases, the test lamp
becomes dimmer.
