4.
Lubricate dies by dripping 1-2 drops of light
machine oil (see Page 18 for an example)
into each hole at top of notch housing (see
Figure 12).

Connect machine to power.
Fingers, hands, etc. can be amputated
or pinched by notcher dies if guards are
removed or appendages are inserted into
notching holes. Only operate with guards
and always keep appendages out of notching
holes while machine is connected to power.
6.
Turn machine ON and allow machine to run
for a few minutes to distribute lubricant from
Step 4 over and inside dies.

7.
Insert workpiece into hole determined in Step
3 and support workpiece so it is perpendicu-
lar to dies (see Figure 13). Wait for machine
to perform first notch.

8.
Rotate workpiece 180° and wait for machine
to perform second notch, then remove
workpiece from notching hole.
9.
Examine workpiece for neat notch.
— If all edges of notch are even then opera-
tion is complete. Turn machine OFF.
— If all edges of notch are not even, repeat
notching operation until they are, then turn
machine OFF.
