    802.11b/g antennas and connectors for optional external 802.11a and 802.11b/ g antennas. If you are installing an UNIVERGE WL 1200-B (internal) or UNIVERGE WL 1200- AB (internal) UNIVERGE WL Access Point with internal 802.11a and 802.11b/g antennas and no connectors for optional external antennas, please refer to the Internal-Antenna UNIVERGE WL AP Quick Installation Guide.

    CALLY, either standing up in a plenum or hanging from a ceiling, to create the largest coverage area per UNIVERGE WL AP. Hanging the UNIVERGE WL AP from the ceiling provides the best RF coverage. • DO NOT MOUNT UNIVERGE WL Access Point ANTENNAS WITHIN ONE METER (3 FT.) OF ANY METAL OBSTRUCTIONS.

    Refer to the following sections to install the UNIVERGE WL APs. When mounting UNIVERGE WL APs and UNIVERGE WL 1200Rs, make sure to maintain a 20 cm (8 in.) separation between the UNIVERGE WL APs or UNIVERGE WL 1200Rs and bystanders to comply with FCC RF exposure NOTE regulations.

NOTE When the UNIVERGE WL AP is powered up and is associated with an UNIVERGE WL Wireless Controller (Green/Power and Yellow/802.11b/g and/or Yellow or Amber/802.11a LEDs lit), the UNIVERGE WL AP is NOTE broadcasting its beacon signal(s).

    1-18 Projection Wall Mount Projection Wall Mount When you are mounting the UNIVERGE WL AP out from a wall (flat sides along the wall or hallway), use an optional factory-orderable projection-mount L- bracket. • Before proceeding, gently screw the two factory-supplied screws and spring washers into the bottom of the UNIVERGE WL AP.
  • Page 25 Slide the screws into the keyhole slots on the mounting bracket as shown in the following figure. If the screws do not securely hold the bracket, remove the UNIVERGE WL AP and adjust the screws until they securely hold the bracket.

    1-20 Flush Wall Mount Flush Wall Mount When you are mounting the UNIVERGE WL AP against a wall (flat side toward the inside of the building), use an optional factory-orderable flush-mount bracket. • Before proceeding, gently screw the two factory-supplied screws and spring washers into the bottom of the UNIVERGE WL AP.
  • Page 27 Slide the screws into the keyhole slots on the mounting bracket as shown in the following figure. Make sure the side of the UNIVERGE WL AP with the door is facing away from the wall. This ensures that the correct antenna is facing the building, and makes future upgrades easier.

    About Cables About Cables • You will run one CAT-5 Ethernet cable from the UNIVERGE WL AP to the UNIVERGE WL Wireless Controller, another network device, or a PoE injector/hub. When the UNIVERGE WL AP will be mounted below the ceiling using the ceiling mount or wall mount brackets, you may have to drill a hole into the ceiling plenum to run the CAT-5 cable to the wiring closet.
