Ad-Hoc Wireless Network

An Ad-Hoc wireless LAN is a group of computers as well as PDAs that are equipped
with a wireless adapter, connected as an independent wireless LAN (Local Area
Network). Computers in a specific Ad-Hoc wireless LAN must be configured to the
same radio channel. Ad-Hoc wireless LAN is applicable at a departmental scale for a
branch or for Small Business/Home Office application.
Note that 802.11 Ad-Hoc
is a version of Ad-Hoc that allows wireless adapters from different manufacturers to
work, but requires that both the radio channel and ESSID is the same for each
computer or PDA.
