INTRODUCTION
This bulletin covers the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) of the 2018 Civic Type R. It includes these procedures:
1.
Fuel the Vehicle
2.
Remove the Exterior Protective Coatings
3.
Install the Fuses
4.
Remove the Interior Protective Coverings
5.
Install the Floor Mats
6.
Check the Battery
7.
Install the Body Plugs
To do a PDI on the navigation system, be sure to complete S/B 17-071, 2018 Civic Type R: PDI of the Navigation
System.

  • Page 2 PDI PROCEDURES Before Starting Review these items: • Perfect Delivery documents, especially the information on battery maintenance and tire pressures • Checklist in the PDI and Final Delivery Checklist Make sure you record the PDI on the appropriate pages of the checklist. The PDI is not done until this bulletin and the checklist are both complete.
  • Page 3 The indicator will switch from blinking to steady when communication is complete. 3. Start the engine by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button while pressing the clutch pedal. You must start the engine within 10 seconds of touching the remote to the button. Get familiar with the jacking and lift points show below.
  • Page 4 Fuel the Vehicle Fuel this vehicle using only unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. Make sure the No. 18 BACKUP (10 A) fuse is installed before filling up the fuel tank (see “Install the Fuses”). If you do it without it installed, the fuel gauge will take much longer than normal to show an accurate reading.

  • Page 6 Remove the Front Suspension Height Retainers To prevent damage to the front spoiler, this vehicle comes shipped with plastic retainers fitted into the front suspension. Be sure to remove and discard them. Unlike other systems that directly measure air pressure, an indirect TPMS uses the VSA wheel speed sensors to monitor and compare tire characteristics while driving and determine when one or more tires are significantly underinflated.
