    Purpose of this chapter 2 This chapter provides the information required to plan and prepare for the installation of a Vivid P3. Included are descriptions of the facility and electrical needs to be met by the purchaser of the unit.
  • Page 52: General Console Requirements

    2-2-1-1 Cooling The cooling requirement for the Vivid P3 is 1366 BTU/hr. This figure does not include cooling needed for lights, people, or other equipment in the room. Each person in the room places an additional 300 BTU/hr. demand on the cooling system.

    2-2-2 Electrical Requirements NOTE: GE Healthcare requires a dedicated power and ground for the proper operation of its Ultrasound equipment. This dedicated power shall originate at the last distribution panel before the system. Sites with a mains power system with defined Neutral and Live: The dedicated line shall consist of one phase, a neutral (not shared with any other circuit), and a full size ground wire from the distribution panel to the Ultrasound outlet.

    Ultrasound machines are susceptible to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from radio frequencies, magnetic fields, and transient in the air wiring. They also generate EMI. The Vivid P3 complies with limits as stated on the EMC label. However there is no guarantee that interface will not occur in a particular installation.

    Site preparation takes time. Begin Pre-installation checks as soon as possible. If possible, allow six weeks before delivery, for enough time to make necessary changes. Have two people available to deliver and unpack the Vivid P3. CAUTION Attempts to move the unit considerable distances or on an incline by one person could result in injury or damage or both.

    Do not lift the console by holding any covers. In general, a single adult can move the VIVID P3 along an even surface with no steep grades. At least two people should move the machine when large humps, grooves, or grades are encountered. (It is better to pull from the rear rather than push from the front of the unit).
