DVD player unit
Symptom
Playback w ill not start even after a title is se-
lected.
The Rating level cannot be changed.
The voice or subtitle language selected in the
initial setting is not played.
M enu screen messages are not show n in the
desired language.
A VCD cannot be played using menus.
Disk tray opening/ closing operation w ill not
be accepted.
Remote control unit
Symptom
Remote control operation is not possible.
Inhibition icon
Symptom
The inhibition icon is displayed and
remote control is not possible.

Cause
÷ A view ing restriction ( RATING ) has been set
for the disc.
÷ You have forgotten the passw ord.
÷ The DVD disc being played does not contain
the recording of the selected voice or subtitle
language.
÷ The initial playback language is specified by
the DVD disc.
÷ The DVD specifications provide for selection
at the menu screen.
÷ The menu language function (M ENU) is not
set to desired language.
÷ The VCD disc being played is not compatible
w ith P.B.C.
÷ Operation is prohibited.
Cause
÷ Batteries are exhausted.
÷ The remote control is too far aw ay from the
system, the controlling angle is deviated or
there is an obstacle in betw een.
Cause
÷ Playback is rest rict ed int ent ionally by t he
softw are producer.

In case of difficulty
Remedy
÷ Check the view ing restriction level ( RAT-
ING ) setting.
÷ Set the initial setup to the factory setup
w ith the follow ing procedure.
1 Press t he 0 ( OPEN / CLOSE ) key t o
open tray.
2 Press the SET UP key on the remote to
enter SETUP M ENU .
3 Enter 8 , 8 , ) , ) , w ith the nu-
meric keys on the remote.
4 Press the SET UP key on the remote.
5 Press the SUBTITLE on the remote
6 Press the
(POWER) key to turn off the
pow er.
7 Press the
(POWER) key to turn on the
pow er.
The passw ord set at the time of shipping
from the factory is "0000".
÷ Use a DVD disc containing the recording of
the selected voice or subtitle language.
÷ Press SUBTITLE or the AUDIO key on the
remote and select the language.
÷ Select at the menu screen of the disc.
÷ Select disc menu language.
÷ M enu playback is available only w ith VCD
discs recorded w ith P.B.C.
÷ Press the M ENU key of the remote control
for several seconds w hile holding the 7
( STOP ) key on the main unit pressed.
"LOCK OFF" w ill be displayed and operation
w ill become possible.
Remedy
÷ Replace w ith new batteries.
÷ Operate the unit inside the remote control-
lable range.
Remedy
÷ The operation is inhibited. Please try an-
other operation.
