THE ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS
Once you've unpacked all of the components, open the
enclosure using the key provided to attach the power
supply cable. See detailed connection and mounting
instructions on the opposite page.
Connect your SMX Intelligence Gateway power cable to
the right angle connector inside of the enclosure. When
connected to power, SMX will start up automatically.
You will be presented with an on-screen wizard that will
walk you through the initial configuration steps. This
should only take 3-5 minutes to complete.
The initial configuration requires the use of a USB drive.
One has been provided for your convenience, and can
be stored inside the enclosure for safekeeping when you
are finished.
Close and lock the enclosure to prevent unauthorized
users from tampering with SMX. Don't lose your key!
Physical access to the interior of SMX may be required
for certain administration and maintenance tasks.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

Once configured, chose a location to mount your SMX
Intelligence Gateway that is at or near eye-level.
SMX can be mounted to any surface or desktop using
a standard VESA mount (not included), or to any wall
using the outer-most mounting holes and the provided
mounting hardware.
For maximum security, the gateway may be mounted directly to
a wall using the four outer-most mounting holes. By mounting
SMX from the inside of the enclosure, the key will be required to
physically remove the device.
1.
Open the enclosure using the key provided.
2.
Determine preferred mounting location:
• Remove angled plate cover with foam.
• If another cable routing hole is desired, remove
flat plate from that hole and move it to the
unused hole.
3.
Mount enclosure in desired location, routing
cables through appropriate hole in the back.
4.
If using Ethernet, connect Ethernet cable to top
of I/O module, routing through cable guide on
back of tablet:
• Ensure Ethernet cable does not hang over
sides, which would cause pinching.
• Note that angled plate cover is already in place
in this picture, which will not be done until step
7 below.
You may route the power cable through any of the available
rear openings. Steel plates have been included to cover any
unused openings.
5.
Route power cable to the right angle connector
inside of the enclosure.
6.
Connect power cable to tablet.
7.
Remove slack from power and Ethernet cables
(if used), cinch down angled plate cover with
foam using included thumbscrews.
8.
Close and lock the enclosure to prevent unau-
thorized users from tampering with SMX.
Leaving the SMX enclosure open or unlocked may provide
unauthorized users with access to interfaces and controls
that could potentially be used to bypass or alter the behavior
of SMX!
