Opening Time Delay Adjustment (for HW200): The opening time delay can be adjusted from 0.1
to 0.9 seconds. The opening time delay setting controls the speed at which the filter returns to the
light state after welding has stopped. It is recommended to use a shorter delay with spot welding
applications and longer delay with application using higher currents. The longer delays can also
be used for low current TIG welding in order to avoid the filter opening when the light path to the
sensors is temporarily obstructed by a hand, torch, etc.
Grind mode selection (for HW200): The function is suitable for weld prep or post-weld clean-up
activities. When the grind mode is active, the grind mode LED will flash.
WARNING: DO NOT WELD IN GRIND MODE
Low battery LED (for HW200): When the low battery LED flashes, please place ADF in direct
sunlight to charge the solar cell until solar cell is fully charged.
INSTRUCTIONS SPECIFIC TO EN 379, ANSI Z87.1 AND CSA Z94.3 STANDARDS:
A complete workplace hazard assessment must be made to determine the proper eye protection
required (in USA, refer to 29 CFR & 1910.132). Guidance on hazards assessment and selection of
spectacles can be found in EN379, ANSI Z87.1, CSA Z94.3 and other similar publications. Special-
purpose windows are not for use where UV and IR filter lenses are required.
E) PRE-USE INSPECTION
Carefully inspect welding filters before each use. Cracked, pitted or scratched filter glass or protection
plates can seriously impair protection and reduce vision. The sensors on the ADF must be kept clean
and uncovered at all times to provide correct function. Check for cracks in the shield and look for light
leaks. All damaged components must be replaced immediately.
Before each use, perform the inspection to ensure that all components are installed and
functioning as intended. Use of welding helmet assemblies that do not meet these inspection
requirements or failure to use the genuine replacement parts may result in permanent eye injury
and vision loss.
Do not use welding filters that are cracked, pitted or otherwise damaged as these conditions
may compromise eye/face impact protection and may allow harmful UV and IR radiation to pass
through causing permanent eye injury and vision loss.
