TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS

ENGINE WILL NOT START

Possible Cause
Fuel valve lever OFF.
Engine switch OFF.
Choke OPEN.
Out of fuel.
Bad fuel; generator stored without
treating or draining gasoline, or
refueled with bad gasoline.
Low oil level caused Oil Alert to stop
engine.
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or
improperly gapped.
Spark plug wet with fuel
(flooded engine).
Fuel strainer restricted, carburetor
malfunction, ignition malfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
CO-MINDER (CO Shut-off System) is
detecting high carbon monoxide (CO)
levels around the generator.
Correction
Turn lever ON (see page 48).
Turn engine switch to ON
(see page 49).
Move to CLOSED unless engine is
warm.
Refuel (see page 19).
Drain fuel tank and carburetor
(see page 83).
Refuel with fresh gasoline
(see page 19).
Add oil (see page 17).
Turn engine switch to OFF and then
restart the engine.
Gap or replace spark plug
(see page 71).
Dry and reinstall spark plug.
Take the generator to an authorized
Honda Power Equipment dealer, or
refer to the shop manual.
Review the location of the generator,
and place it in a well-ventilated
outdoor location (see page 25).
When the engine is stopped
automatically by CO-MINDER, press
the CO-MINDER reset button to restart
the engine (see page 52).
