7. Use of Document Carrier Sheet

NOTE: To transmita carbon-backed document,inserta whitesheet
of paperbetweenthe carbonbackof the documentand the
document c arrier.
Thosecontainingan easilyseparablewritingsubstance (e.g.,trac-
ingpaperwrittenon with a soft,heavyleadpencil).
NOTES:
When usingthe documentcarrier,carefullyreadthe in-
structionswrittenon the back.
If the documentcarrieris dirty,cleanit with a soft, moist
cloth,andthendry it beforeusingfor transmission.
Do not placemorethanonedocument i n the carrierat a
time.

1. Site selection
Takethe followingpointsinto consideration whenselectinga site for
this model.
ENVIRONMENT
The machinemustbe installedon a levelsurface.
Keepthe machineawayfrom air conditioners, h eaters,directsun-
light,anddust.
Provideeasyaccessto the front,back,andsidesof the machine.
In particular,keep the area in front of the machineclear, or the
originaldocumentmayjam as it comesout afterscanning.
Thetemperature shouldbe between5° and35°C.
The humidityshouldbe between30% and 85% (withoutconden-
sation).
ELECTRICITY
230-240V,50/60Hz, grounded(3-prong) AC outletis required.
Caution!
Connection to a powersourceotherthan that specifiedwill cause
damageto the equipmentandis notcoveredunderthewarranty,
If your area experiencesa high incidenceof lightningor power
surges,we recommendthat you install a surge protectorfor the
powerand telephonelines.Surgeprotectorscan be purchased at
mosttelephonespecialtystores.
If the
machineis movedfroma coldto a warmplace...
If the machineis movedfrom a cold to a warm place, it is possible
that the reading glass may fog up, preventingproper scanningof
documentsfor transmission.To removethe fog, turn on the power
andwait approximately 2 hoursbeforeusingthe machine.
TELEPHONE JACK
A standardRJ-11 C telephone jack mustbe locatednearthe machine.
Thisis thetelephone jackcommonly usedin mosthomesandoffices.
Pluggingthe fax machineinto a jack whichis not an RJ-1 1C jack
mayresultin damageto the machineor yourtelephone system. If
you do not knowwhat kind of jack you have,or neededto have
oneinstalled, c ontactthetelephone company.
2. Assembly and connections

Connect t he handsetcordto the handsetandthe faxas shown.
The endsof the handsetcordare identical,so theywill go into
eithersocket.
Placethe handset o n the handsetrest.

machinemarked
TEL. LINE.
Insertthe otherendinto a wall tele-
phonesocket.
Be sure to plug the line cord into the
TEL. LINE socket. Do
not
plug it into the
TEL. SET

socketis notavailablein somecountries.)
