Capacitors

The DC circuit of the power modules of the drive contain several electrolytic capacitors.
Their lifespan depends on the operating time of the drive, loading and ambient
temperature. Capacitor life can be prolonged by lowering the ambient temperature.
Capacitor failure is usually followed by damage to the unit and an input cable fuse failure,
or a fault trip. Contact ABB if capacitor failure is suspected. Replacements are available
from ABB. Do not use other than ABB specified spare parts.

Reforming the capacitors

The capacitors must be reformed if the drive has been stored for a year or more. For
information on reforming the capacitors, see Converter module capacitor reforming
instructions (3BFE64059629 [English]).
