Cylinder head inspection
1. Eliminate:
• Carbon deposits
(with a rounded scraper CC
CAUTION:
Do not use a sharp instrument to avoid
damaging or scratching the cylinder head
or spark plug bore threads.
2. Inspect:
• Cylinder head water jacket
Corrosion/mineral deposits —> Clean
or replace.

3. Measure:
• Cylinder head warpage
(with a straightedge and thickness
gauge)
Out of specification/score marks ->
Resurface.
Warpage limit:
0. 05 mm (0. 002 in)

NOTE:
Place a 400-600 grit wet sandpaper on a
surface plate and resurface the cylinder
head using a figure-eight sanding pattern.
