Required Documents
A Storage Architect or Business Partner designed the components of Storage Center for the specific site.
Pre-installation documentation contains detailed information from the design that is used during the
setup process.
Pre-installation documents include:
•
List of hardware needed to support storage requirements
•
Hardware Serial Number (HSN) used to configure the storage controllers
•
Network information, such as IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways
•
Optional connectivity diagrams to illustrate cabling between the controllers, enclosures, switches, and
servers
Refer to the pre-installation documents for information about site-specific settings used during Storage
Center configuration.
Required Software Versions
Storage Center hardware has minimum software version requirements.

Connect Power Cables and Turn On the Storage System
Connect power cables to the storage system components and turn on the hardware.
About this task

If the storage system is installed without expansion enclosures, connect power cables to the storage
system chassis and turn on the storage system.
•
If the storage system is installed with expansion enclosures, connect power cables to the expansion
enclosure chassis and turn on the expansion enclosures as described in the Dell Storage Center
SC4020 Storage System Getting Started Guide. After the expansion enclosures are powered on,
connect power to the storage system chassis and turn on the storage system.

Purpose
Used to activate purchased features.
License files use the naming convention snxxx_35_date.lic,
where:
•
snxxx is the serial number of the top storage controller.
•
35 indicates that the system runs software higher than
version 3.5.
•
date shows the license generation date in YYMMDD format.
•
.lic is the file extension.
