Basic information

HDDs/SSDs
Using CX2550 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 8 x 2.5 " HDD/SSD modules.
Using CX2560 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 24 x 2.5 " HDD/SSD modules.
Using CX2570 M4 server nodes, the server enclosure can be equipped with a
maximum of 12 x 2.5 " HDD/SSD modules.
Each HDD/SSD module can accommodate an SAS/SATA HDD or SSD with a
maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected to the SAS/SATA
backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD/SSD modules to be plugged in or pulled
out easily.
Six SATA HDDs/SSDs can be controlled by the onboard SATA controller. To
control SAS HDDs/SSDs, an additional SAS / RAID controller must be installed.
Hybrid configurations of SAS HDDs, SATA HDDs, SAS SSDs and SATA SSDs
within the same logical drive (RAID array) are not supported.
If the server node has the corresponding RAID configuration, HDD/SSD
modules can also be replaced during operation.

General equipping rules

– SSDs are always equipped before installing HDDs.

The mounting order described above is only relevant for the factory
manufacturing process. In case of upgrading a system you need not
consider this mounting sequence.
– HDDs/SSDs with different capacities are installed from highest to lowest
capacity.
– HDDs with different rotation speeds are installed from highest to lowest
speed.
