Reinitializing the Protocol for Rapid PVST+

This example shows how to configure the link type as a point-to-point link:
switch# config t
switch (config)# interface ethernet 1/4
switch(config-if)# spanning-tree link-type point-to-point
switch(config-if)# exit
switch(config)#
Reinitializing the Protocol for Rapid PVST+
A bridge that runs Rapid PVST+ can send 802.1D BPDUs on one of its ports when it is connected to a legacy
bridge. However, the STP protocol migration cannot determine whether the legacy device has been removed
from the link unless the legacy device is the designated switch. You can reinitialize the protocol negotiation
(force the renegotiation with neighboring devices) on the entire device or on specified interfaces.
Procedure
Step 1
This example shows how to reinitialize Rapid PVST+ on the Ethernet interface on slot 2, port 8:
switch# clear spanning-tree detected-protocol interface ethernet 2/8
switch#
