Removing
or
installing planer blades
CAUTION :
Always
be
sure
that the
tool
is
switched
off
and unplugged before removing or installing
the blade.
The blade is secured with four bolts. Re-
move the inner two bolts entirely with
the socket wrench and loosen the outer
two bolts two turns each.
When you install new or sharpened blades,
first clean out all chips or foreign matter
adhering to the drum or blades. Use blades
of the same dimensions and weight, or
drum oscillation/vibrarion will result, caus-
ing poor planing action and, eventually,
tool breakdown.
Screw the blade onto the adjust plate,
slip
it into the groove on the drum, then fit the
drum cover on over it. Fasten with hex
flange hd. bolt. See Fig.
When properly installed, the side of the
blade should be flush with the outside edge
of the rear base.

CAUTION :
Tighten carefully the planer blade installation bolts when attaching planer blades to the
planer. A loose installation bolt can be dangerous. Always check to see they are tightened
securely.
