Coddop
There are a number of precautions
you can take to avoidmarring the
porcelain enamel surface of the
cooktop and prevent it from
becoming dull. Don't slide heavy
pans across it. If you spill foods
with a lot of acid (tomatoes,
sauerkraut, fruitjuices, etc.) or
foodswith high sugar content,
clean them up as soon as possible.
Ifallowed to set, these foodscould
cause a dull spot. Also, no matter
how stubborn the food stain, never
use harsh abrasive"cleansers.They

Cooktop
Clean the area under the cooktop
often. Built-upsoil, especially
grease, may catch fire.
To make cleaning easier, the
cooktopmay be lifted up.
Before raising the cooktop:
L Be sure burners are turned off.
2. Removethe grates and the drip
pans.
This range is equipped with dual
support rods that will snap into
place when the front of the cooktop
is lifted all the wayup. To lowerthe
cooktop again, support the raised
cooktop with one hand, then
carefully push the bottom of each
rod awayfrom you until rod slides
back down into the side of the
range.

replacingthe grates, be sure they're

Toget rid of burned-onfood, soak
the grates in a slightlydiluted
liquidcleaner.
Althoughthey'redurable, the
grates will graduallylose their
shine, regardlessof the best care
you can give them. This is due to
their continualexposureto high
temperatures.
Do not operate a burner for an
extendedperiod of time without
cookwareon the grate. The finish
on the grate may chip without
cookwareto absorb the heat.
Drip
Pans
Removethe grates and lift out the
chrome drip pans. Washthem in
hot, soapy water. Rinse them with
clean, hot water and polish them
dry with a cloth. Never use
abrasive cleaner or steel wool—
they will scratch the surface.
Instead, soak the drip pans for
about 20 minutes in slightlydiluted
liquid cleanser or mild solution of
ammonia and water (1/2cup of
ammonia to one gallon of water).
After soaking, wash them in hot,
soapy water. Rinse with clean water
and polish with a clean, soft cloth.
