7.2.1.4 Installation
The NEC 1-Port IP Call Logging Unit is packaged with everything necessary for installation including:
• USB cable
• Ethernet cable
• Quick start installation manual
- Information on where to download the software.
• IP Call Logging Unit
The use of monitoring, recording, or listening devices to eavesdrop, monitor,
retrieve, or record telephone conversation or other sound activities, whether or
not contemporaneous with transmission, may be illegal in certain
circumstances under federal or state laws. Legal advice should be sought prior
to implementing any practice that monitors or records any telephone
conversation. Some federal and state laws require some form of notification to
all parties to a telephone conversation, such as using a beep tone or other
notification methods or requiring the consent of all parties to the telephone
conversation, prior to monitoring or recording the telephone conversation.
Some of these laws incorporate strict penalties.
1.
Connecting the Call Logging unit in line with the phone for recording calls from a selected VoIP
phone.
• Unplug the Ethernet connection from your SIP phone and connect it to the Network connection
on the Call Logging unit.
• Connect the SIP phone to the IP phone connection port on the Call Logging unit.
-Or-
Connecting the Call Logging unit in line with the VoIPDB for recording calls from a selected VoIP
phone or a SIP trunk.
• Unplug the Ethernet connection from the VoIPDB and connect it to the Network connection port
on the Call Logging unit.
• Connect another Ethernet cable from the IP phone port on the Call Logging unit and connect it
to the VoIPDB port where the cable was removed from in the previous step.
