Voice Ca te gorie s
Vo ices can be o rg anized into Categ o ry types and
assig ned a two -letter Categ o ry co de during the vo ice
N ame o peratio n. Fo r a list o f the available Categ o ry
types, see pag e 8 1 .
Sce ne s
Each vo ice has two " Scenes" , o r two distinct so unds
available fo r instant recall at the press o f a [SCEN E]
switch. Since the specific Scene o n/ o ff status is sto red
as vo ice data, when yo u select a vo ice an L ED beside
o ne o f the [SCEN E] switches will lig ht to indicate which
Scene is active. (If bo th Scene L EDs lig ht, the Scene
Co ntro l o n status has been sto red as part o f the vo ice,
which means yo u can mo rph, o r cro ss-fade between
Scenes using the assig nable [MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel o r
any o ther assig ned co ntinuo us co ntro ller as yo u play.)

As yo u edit a vo ice by turning the kno bs o r chang ing
parameters in the Edit menu, the info rmatio n in the
screen chang es acco rding ly. T o display the vo ice name
and number in the L CD at any time, press [-] o r [+]
o nce.

Voice Re ca ll
If yo u' re editing a vo ice, and inadvertently select
ano ther vo ice befo re perfo rming a Vo ice Sto re
o peratio n, o r simply chang e yo ur mind, yo u can recall
the mo st recently edited vo ice data using the Vo ice
Recall functio n. Fo r mo re info rmatio n, see pag e 9 6 .

The AN 1 x has vario us o n-bo ard co ntro llers which let yo u
co ntro l specific parameters in real-time as yo u play.
Besides keybo ard Initial and After T o uch, these include
[PITCH] wheel, [MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel and [RIBBO N ]
co ntro ller, as well as the eig ht assig nable CO N TRO L
kno bs.
PI TCH W he e l
The [PITCH] wheel lets yo u bend the pitch up o r do wn
by an assig nable amo unt. The pitch bend " depth"
(rang e) can be different fo r each Scene, as set in the
Co ntro l Matrix.

The pitch bend range can be different for each Scene in each voice. You can also
use the [ PITCH] wheel to control other parameters. For information, see page 5 1 .
M O DULATI O N W he e l
The [MO DUL ATIO N ] wheel lets yo u apply varying
amo unts o f mo dulatio n to the so und as yo u play,
depending o n assig nment by the Utility Co ntro l Assig n
functio n (see pag e 5 0 ) o r in the Co ntro l Matrix (see
pag e 5 1 ).
MODULATION
You can also assign volume, pan or one of many other parameters to be
controlled by the [ MODULATION] wheel. For information, see page 9 5 . The
[ MODULATION] wheel can also be used to " morph" between Scenes when the
Scene Control function is activated. For information, see page 2 0 .
