Vendor ID
Displays the disk's vendor ID.
Product ID
Displays the disk's model name, etc.
Product Rev.
Displays the disk's firmware revision number, etc.
Serial No.
Displays the disk's serial number.
Capacity
Displays the disk's total capacity in units of MB.
Block Length
Displays the length of one block (recording unit) on
the disk.
Status
Displays the disk's status. The displayed information
is linked to the color of the icon shown in the No.
column. You can use the status column as a guide to
whether maintenance or a disk exchange is needed.
The meaning of the various disk states is as follows.
• Active: The disk is operating normally.
• Caution: A certain number of non-fatal errors are
occurring, such as I/O delay errors.
• Warning: Errors leading to loss of data may occur.
• Should Format: A Caution or Warning state has
been observed repeatedly. Formatting of the disk is
recommended.
• Formatting: The disk is being formatted.
• Non-managed: The disk has been specified as a non-
managed disk.
Remarks
Displays information about the progress of formatting,
etc.

4-1-3 SCSI Disk Watcher Menus

This section explains the SCSI Disk Watcher menus.
If there is a button on the toolbar with the same
function as a menu command, it is shown in
parentheses after the command name.
File Menu
The File menu contains the following commands.
Save Connection Information (
Save connection information about all SCSI disks
connected to the workstation in a file. (For details, see
"Saving Disk Connection Information" on next page).
Parameters of Surveillance Tool
Allows you to check and set the operating parameters
of the Surveillance Service Application, to get log
sense data, and to designate non-managed disks. This
command has the following subcommands.
• Show Parameters: Displays the Parameters of
surveillance service dialog. (For more information
about this dialog, see "Using the Parameters of
surveillance service Dialog" on next page.)
• Managed Disks (
): Removes disks from the
managed disks. (For details, see "Removing Disks
From the Managed Disks" on page 4-5.)
Exit Application
Exits SCSI Disk Watcher.
Information Menu
The Information menu contains the following
commands.
Re-scan SCSI Bus (
Re-scans the workstation SCSI bus. The information in
the main window is refreshed.
Defect Information (
Displays defective blocks for the disks (blocks which
have been replaced by alternate blocks). (For details,
see "Checking defective blocks on disks" on page
4-6).
Error Information (
)
Displays disk error information. (For details, see
"Viewing Disk Error Information" on page 4-6).
