Single character indicating the character to be interpreted as
starting a comment within the script. The default
comment_char is
#.
All characters from a comment_char to the
next newline are ignored.
escape_char A single character indicating the character to be interpreted as
an escape character within the script. The default escape_char
is \. escape_char is used to escape localedef metacharacters to
remove special meaning and in the character constant decimal,
octal, and hexadecimal formats.
The following example shows the header of a
localedef
script for the
american
locale:
